About this place
One of Masuya-Mitsu’s distinctive offerings is Hoppy served water-chilled, without ice. Some diners come specifically for this change from the usual way of drinking Hoppy; the menu lists a small Hoppy for 430 yen.
Choose a small plate such as cucumber with miso or potato salad, or go for fried river shrimp and deep-fried pork liver. Grilled fish options include mackerel dried in the mirin style and grilled rockfish marinated in sake lees. For something more filling, there is rice with raw egg. The menu offers options for different drinking styles and appetites.
Some visitors say they enjoyed chatting with the owner and other customers at the counter seating. The restaurant is also listed as a place for solo dining. Masuya-Mitsu is an izakaya in Izumi.
